GUIA DEL SOLICITANTE

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy helps restore and promote movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. Physiotherapists use movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice to help people recover, reduce pain or manage their condition, taking a "whole person" approach. Physiotherapy is a science-based profession that requires a university-degree qualification; the terms "physiotherapist" and "physical-therapist" are protected titles. (The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy)

How long do the sessions take?

The Initial Consultation and Falls Risk Assessment take around 60-90 minutes. Follow up visits usually take 30-40 minutes.

What should I wear for the assessment?

Please wear clothing that you find comfortable and that allows you to move freely. Depending on the nature of your condition you may need clothes that allow a visual assessment of the area. Shorts are useful if you have a knee or hip problem, or a top with thin straps for a shoulder or spinal concern. Clothing may need to be adjusted during the assessment to allow a visual assessment, however you are under no obligation and the therapist will discuss this with you in advance.

Can someone (a chaperone) be with me during the assessment?

Yes of course! It's up to you - if you would like someone else to be present for all or part of the assessment just let the therapist know.

Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?

Evening or weekend appointments can be provided depending on availability. Please get in touch so we can arrange an appointment that's convenient for you.

Do you offer clinic appointments?

No. Locality Physio do not have a clinic - we bring the clinic to you within the comfort and convienience of your own home.

Are there any additional costs?

Please see the "Services and Prices" page for our up to date charges. If your personalised treatment plan requires equipment that Locality Physio provide, this will be charged additionally to the assessment or treatment session. This will always be discussed and agreed with you in advance of the equipment being provided and you are, of course, at liberty to source your own equipment from elsewhere - your therapist can advise you on suitability but cannot take responsibility for any equipment that has not been provided by Locality Physio.

How many follow up visits will I need?

This depends on the nature of your condition, the treatment approach being used and how well your body responds to treatment. An estimated number of follow up visits and their frequency will be advised and agreed with you during the Initial Consultation, forming part of your personalised treatment plan. This will be reviewed at each follow up visit and amended if necessary. A discount is offered for block-booking 5 or more follow up visits - please see our " Services and Prices" page for more information.

Do I get a discount for block-booking follow up visits?

A discount is offered for block-booking 5 or more follow up visits - please see our "Services and Prices" page for more information.

What if I need to cancel?

Please contact us at least 24 hours before your appointment if you need to cancel and to rearrange your appointment for another time. If you have made a block-booking for follow up visits and no longer want the full number of sessions, then a refund will be provided for the remainder, after the full cost (non-discounted) of those sessions already provided has been taken off the discounted price. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before or missed appointments (where we have attended but you're not at home) will still be charged at full rate.
